Sengkang Swimming Complex

On Sunday, we finally went to the newly opened Sengkang Swimming Complex at... where else, Sengkang... or to be more specific, Anchorvale. We decided to take the LRT from Renjong to Farmvale since Baby G loves taking the trains.

===> Baby G getting all ready
Initially, Baby G was pretty excited when he saw the swimming pools. But when he got into the water, there was a section of the swimming complex that collected a huge bucket of water and once it fills up, it'll splash the water down, Baby G became afraid and kept telling us "Mummy, Daddy, scared". We slowly convinced him not to be afraid of the water and kept playing with him and distracting him from the sounds of the splashes. Soon, he overcame his fear and played quite happily. Too soon, the weather turned a bit dark and Baby G started shivering, so we decided to quickly get him out of the water.

See the bucket? It fills up with water and pours it down. Baby G was afraid of the noise and splashes it made.
We continued to explore the place. We came across this quaint looking restaurant. The decor was quite Zen-like and then upon closer inspection, it was actually Jack's Place. We decided to have our lunch there.

Daddy & Baby G enjoying their garlic bread.....
We all enjoyed our lunch together. It's so rare that we managed to sit down quietly and chit chat without Baby G interrupting. I guess coz he was shacked out from the 'swimming' and didn't have much energy left for us. He actually fell asleep while eating the rice. HaHa. Would've loved to show you the video but it was too large and would probably take forever to upload. Instead, I decided to share another cute video of Baby G.
In case none understood what Baby G said... here's how it went....
Daddy :- Are you ready?
Baby G :- Yessss.
After eating the jelly....
Baby G :- Niiiiiceeeee.

BBQ @ Downtown East

On Sat evening, we went to Auntie Doris BBQ @ Downtown East. We reached there pretty late as Baby G was shacked out after attending Di Di Alastair's 1st month. We had to wake Baby G up and persuade him to go out with us.

Upon reaching Downtown East, Baby G was initially very shy when Auntie Doris' niece & nephew wanted to play with him. But after a while, he started to warm up and thanks to uncle Ronnie who showed him how to blow bubbles, he rather enjoyed himself. Here's a video of Baby G playing with bubbles.

Thank you auntie Doris for the wonderful BBQ, especially the yummy prawns & lamb chops and all the toys for Baby G.

Thank you Uncle Ronnie for keeping the kids entertained.

Alastair's 1st Month

Today we went to Baby Alastair's 1st Month celebration. Uncle ES picked us up as Daddy had to work. Initially, Baby G was pretty clingy and refused to look at Uncle ES, Auntie YP or even Baby Kate.

When we reached there, we saw Baby Alastair having his milk so in order not to disturb him, we went out to eat. There was fried rice available and Baby G ate 2 bowls of fried rice with ngoh-hiang all by himself. What a good boy! Baby G showed exemplary behaviour today, wish everyday was like that. HaHa.

As were mostly stayed outside of the house since we were such a big group, I didn't manage to take the photo of the most important person today... however, I did manage to catch the rest of us..... enjoy the pictures.....

hmmm... in the end, I think most of the pictures were of Kate..... I would say she's the most adorable of all....

Alastair, Happy 1st Month..... will try to get more photos next time.

Please... I want to sleep.....

This morning we had a hard time trying to wake Baby G up (coz last nite we were out late). We even took Froggie and his bolster out of his bed and softly asked him to wake up. We even said we wanted to bring him go 'kai kai' (which normally works), but everything failed; he kept his eyes shut.

Suddenly, out of the blue, he opened his eyes and clasp his hands together (kinda like praying) and said "please, sleep" repeatedly. Daddy & myself were so surprised and we looked at each other in astonishment and laughed. It was really funny. We didn't expect him to react this way.

I couldn't resist and ran out to get my camera and asked him to wake up.... again he made the same action and I managed to catch it on the camera. Although it's not as good as the first one, it's quite close.

Busy Day

Today we left the house pretty early to go to Tanjong Pagar to fix my VCR. I know.. I know... I still have a VCR??!!?? HaHa. Oh well, I've got so many tapes, it's such a waste to throw them all away. Anyway, according to the shop, it'll cost only $40 to fix it, so I think it's a bargain.

While we were at Tanjong Pagar, we passed by the famous muffin shop, and the smell was so yummy that we couldn't resist and bought some back. We also went to NTUC to get Baby G's weekly vegetables.

After that, we went to Ah Ma's shop and had lunch at the food centre. Baby G ate half a plate of chicken rice all by himself. He must've been really hungry.

After eating Daddy's fried rice, we went for a walk to Compasspoint & then took the LRT back home. Baby G was very happy to be able to sit on the train. He was quite funny, when I put my hands on the doors to balance myself, Baby G said to me 'Mummy, no hand, door open... tututututu (sound of train doors closing)" and repeated the same thing to Daddy when Daddy purposely put his hands on the doors too. HaHa.

==> Walking to Compasspoint ==> At Compasspoint
Nowadays, Baby G climbs up and down our furniture like an agile monkey. His latest favourite place is in my study room on my study table. He just likes to sit there and play on the keyboard and whatever else he can get his hands on.

We also just found out that he can actually climb out of his cot and onto our bed. Now, at night, he doesn't want to sleep on his cot and instead wants to sleep on our bed, he'll just climb over and out of his bed. So we always have to wait til he sleeps and then carry him back to his bed. We really have to keep an eye on him now, especially when he's too quiet. Most of the time, he's up to some mischief.

Bronchitis No More!

We just went for the 3rd review at Dr Tan's. Finally, Baby G is cleared of bronchitis. Dr Tan said that his lungs are clear, however, the not so good news is that his cough and wet nose will continue for another week or so. Once his medication is finished, he'll have to start taking his 'tonics'. The next review is probably another 2 weeks time. So far, we've spent almost $300++ on his medical bills. It's just so expensive to fall sick in S'pore.

Take A Break

We decided to go grocery shopping on Saturday... firstly to stock up on our food items and secondly, to bring Baby G out after practically staying at home the entire week recuperating. Although Baby G has not fully recovered, we decided to bring him out to 'reward' him for being such a good boy; taking his numerous medication and being on the Neb.

We went to NTUC @ AMK Hub. Again, we were lucky enough to get the 'trolley car' and Baby G was so happy throughout the entire shopping experience. At the check-out, we had to prepare him by telling him that the car needs to be parked and he's supposed to park the car. Luckily, when we told him to leave the car behind, he willingly left it without making much of a fuss.

We wanted to go to OCBC but the queue was super long, so we decided not to wait. Baby G saw a 'Thomas the Train' kiddy ride outside and ran towards it and climbed up on it all by himself. We let him have his fun before it was time to go home.

A new skill that he has picked up is opening our fridge doors. Our food stuffs are not safe from his prying hands. This time he saw a bag of carrots, grabbed it and took a bite out of it. He must have been watching too much 'Bugs Bunny' cartoons. He even told us the carrots were 'nice'. HaHa.

Baby G is still coughing on occasions. He seems to be breathing a bit hard too. So I think his lungs are not totally cleared. His next review is on Wednesday, so we'll have to wait and see Doc's diagnosis. Meanwhile, he's just got to continue taking his medication.

Bronchitis - Part 2

Today we went to see Dr Tan for a review of Baby G's condition. There were a lot of people at the clinic, lucky Baby G amused himself with the toys there, especially with the horsie; it made the wait more bearable.

When Dr Tan checked him out, she said there's still phelgm in his lungs and he's still breathing hard and wheezing. The cough has reduced and the fever seems to have gone away. Dr Tan called him a 'happy wheezer' cause she said normally children are very subdued when they get bronchitis unlike Baby G, who was so active and playful and generally looked happy. She said usually children don't run around or play much as it's makes it more difficult for them to breathe, but she said Baby G looked like he was in tip-top condition. He had to go on the Neb one more time though. He was happy actually cause it meant he could play with the car in the doctor's room while waiting for the nurse to start up the oxygen tank & insert the medication. Again, Baby G was a brave boy. He never once complained or squirm while on the Neb. He sat quietly until the whole process completed. It helped that we distracted him by asking him to join us to count from 1 to 20.

The next review is on Wednesday. For now, no swimming and no playground for Baby G.

Mild Bronchitis

Yesterday Baby G went to Kidslink for the 2nd time as his cough was getting much worse. This time, Doctor Tan said his lungs had phlegm in them as compared to Monday when it was all cleared. She said he's probably got mild bronchitis and needs to go on the Nebulizer.
The Neb is kinda like breathing in oxygen from the oxygen tank. The nurse inserted the medication into a tube near the oxygen mask and started the machine. It was pretty noisy and mist was generated. Initially Baby G was scared of the mask itself, but soon, he actually told us "nice". So we took it that he enjoyed it. He had to be on the Neb for about 5minutes or til the medication runs out. For the first few minutes, he quietly sat there, breathing in the mist, then towards the end, he started to get bored and kept squirming out of my arms. Luckily when the nurse came in, she told us that only left about 10 seconds more... so I counted 1 to 10 slowly and Baby G sat there listening to me count. Finally it was over. Can see the effect it had on him. His breathing seemed much more smoother and less congested. However, the amount of medication that he now needs to take has increased. The poor boy.

It used to be very easy for Baby G to take his medications, but now, with so many to take and the bitter taste of the antibiotic, everytime i say "Time to take medicine"... he'll say "dun wan.. dun wan". I have to coax and cajole him, before he'll even open his mouth. *sigh*
His appetite has also reduced. He can't even finish his usual 210ml of milk that he normally gulps down in record time. He's definitely lost some weight and he looks much thinner.
Today, in the morning, his cough seemed to be much much worse, but later part in the afternoon, it seemed to reduce and his mood improved. He was running around the house, playing with his toys and driving his car. He finally fell asleep after drinking just half of his usual milk intake.
We really hope Baby G will recover soon although the Doc mentioned that it usually takes a week to fully recover. The next review is tomorrow. Hope Doc brings us good news.

Rhinitis

Last night, Baby G's cough seemed to get more serious so we decided to bring him to the doctor's. Daddy decided to take leave today to bring Baby G while I went to work. Seems like Baby G may have something called "Rhinitis" which is something like an irritation or inflammation of the nose. Perhaps that's why he keeps scratching his nose these past few days. Doc gave him some kind of tonic for him to take for the whole month. Hopefully it'll improve.

One thing good that came out of this is that he managed to spend the entire day with Daddy. I have a feeling he won't want to go to school tomorrow, he'll keep asking us to go 'kai kai'. Haha.

When I reached home today, Baby G was glad to see me and he wanted to accompany me wherever I went. He even waited patiently for me to finish washing the dishes so that I could spend time with him. Just before we went to bed, we read books together and he promptly fell asleep after that.

Today I also finally upgraded my SCV from analogue to digital, cause they wanted to remove 2 more channels, so i was forced to make the switch. Since it's a new box, all channels were available, so while I'm updating this blog, I'm enjoying channel surfing the 100-plus channels.. haha.

A Visit from Uncle TianYen

Uncle TY came back for a short visit to S'pore. Luckily we managed to catch up with him, even though it was quite a last minute arrangement. We decided to have coffee at TCC @ Millenia Walk since it's normally not so crowded. As usual, our conversation centered around updating Uncle TY on all the latest happenings. Uncle TY was pleasantly surprised at all the latest & soon-to-be additions to our big group.

The most interesting (read:chatty) person is gor gor Zac Zac. He was unsually talkative today... must be because Uncle TY came all the way from HKG. Gor gor Zac Zac, keep it up! We all love teasing you... heh heh.

We left Millenia at around 6plus to go to Ah-Ma's for dinner. Baby G was pretty well-behaved today. He quietly sat down to have his rice & tau-hu and drank the soup that Ah-Ma prepared. After dinner, there were cut fruits. Baby G helped to distribute the fruits to all of us.

Daddy also let Baby G play a home-made version of the slide. Baby G enjoyed it so much. I think next time he won't be so scared of the actual slide that the playground.

My Little Helper

Last night, Baby G slept pretty late as we were at Ikea with MaMa, Grandpa & YeeYee til about 10plus. This morning, he woke up only to ask for his milk and then went back to sleep again, so I had another extra 2hrs to sleep in.

When we both woke up, there was breakfast ready for us, courtesy of Daddy. After the simple yet 'filled with love' bee hoon, I started to prepare Baby G's vegetables for the week. Baby G was so interested in what I was doing, so I showed him what to do. He sat down with me and started to pluck the vegetables together.

In the evening, we were supposed to attend mei mei JiaMin's 1st birthday, but Baby G was taking a later than usual afternoon nap and in the end, we were too late to attend as we had to rush to a wedding dinner.

Throughout the dinner, Baby G behaved himself very well. He sat quietly and ate his dinner together with us. We are so proud of him.

Happy Children's Day

Today is Children's Day. Today is the day that Grandpa, MaMa & YeeYee officially moved over to Pasir Ris. Today is also the day that Che Che XueLi goes to London to begin her new academic life.

It was a slow and long morning as I was not feeling well. Luckily Daddy helped to look after Baby G and it allowed me some time to have a good rest. We then decided to go down to the Carrefour Warehouse Sale. What a disappointment, it was pretty small and nothing much to shop. We only managed to buy a bolster case and Baby G's diapers to stock up at MaMa's place.

We helped to pack and cart some of the things over to Pasir Ris. Once Baby G woke up and had his lunch, we carried his stuff over. It was our first visit there. Baby G was pretty excited. I helped to do the bedsheets and curtains up while Baby G looked on and tried to help in some areas.

Finally, we left the house. As it was too late to go down to Esplanade (our original plan) to see the Children's festivities, we decided to go to Terminal 3 instead.

The place is pretty huge. Quite a lot of things to see. We walked and walked and it seemed like it would never end. We wanted to have dinner at Dian Xiao Er, but the queue was so long. Then we tried Swensons, it was just as bad, if not worse. As we were coming down the escalator, we met up with Uncle William, Auntie May & Linda, Gor Gor JJ & KaiFu and Che Che XueLi. We all then went to eat at Lerk Thai (note : Service wasn't really that good). Thank you, Uncle William, for the dinner treat!

We then proceeded to the check-in counters where Che Che XueLi's friends came to wish her bon voyage. We took some pictures together. Che Che XueLi, have a safe trip and study hard!

We also happened to see Tay Ping Hui but none of us had the guts to request for a photo. HaHa. He looks really cool, but quite skinny actually. After that, I also saw Hardy Mirza (S'pore & Asian Idol).

We then went to MacDonalds for fries & drinks. Baby G was so happy as it's been quite a while that we've actually brought him to MacDonalds. After that, we walked all the way to the car park, it was a pretty long walk, almost 15-2omins and Baby G actually walked all the way with us. So glad we didn't have to 'bao bao' him.

Happy Children's Day!
