Kite Flying

Just before going for our Father's Day dinner, Daddy decided to bring Baby G for some kite flying. After all the hard work, we only manage to let the kite fly up for a while before, Baby G, in his enthusiasm, broke our kite. Hahaha...

Our beautiful kite in the sky....... Baby G trying to get the kite to fly up.

"Meet The Parents" Session

It's the end of Term 1 & Term 2 for Baby G, so today the school has arranged a 'Meet The Parents' session to update the parents on their child's progress. We were supposed to go at 12:10pm so we decided to head down to IKEA before meeting the teachers for Baby G's update.

We set off about 930am. Baby G was pretty excited, especially once he knew he was going to IKEA for breakfast.

Before....... Hungry man is too busy to pose After............. the look of pure satisfaction
Can you believe that he ate everything that was on the plate??? And that was supposed to be my breakfast!
His breakfast today :-
- 1.5 sausages (the other 0.5, he shared with me)
- 1.5 hash brown (the other 0.5, he shared with me)
- all the scrambled eggs (except maybe 2 small pieces that I took without his knowledge)
- A third of the crossiant (1/3 to me & another 1/3 to Daddy)
- 2 glasses of water.
- few pieces of french fries.
Lucky Daddy shared some of his breakfast with me, else I would be super hungry.
After the hearty IKEA breakfast, we went to Giant for some grocery shopping and we were so caught up, we were late for our session.

By the time we reached his school, I think we were the last set of parents there. But actually, it was good cause at least the place was quiet and not that many people. The last 'Meet The Parents' session, we had to wait almost 1hr before the teachers came to us and during our session, it was pretty rushed cause there were other parents waiting for their turns too.

I think this time the meet up was more positive. At least, we get to share our concerns with the teachers and at the same time, hear what the teachers have to say about Baby G.

Overall, the teachers seem to say that Baby G is quite smart, however, he needs to work on his behavioural skills. He's not able to sit still for very long and usually will join anyone else who is up to some mischief. He doesn't like colouring/drawing very much, however, they were impressed with his participation in the singing lessons. Whenever the teacher asks who wants to sing songs, Baby G is the first to come out & join in. Baby G also engages in conversations with the teachers. His English verbal skills are quite good, however, his 2nd language verbal skills are lacking. He can understand what the teacher wants but he usually will reply back in English.

Comments from English teacher & Chinese teacher (though it seems quite similar)

Disney @ Parkway Parade

On Sat morning, we decided to pop down to East Coast for some workout.... cycling, that is. We stopped for breakfast at The Playground's KFC before our 'journey'. Baby G enjoyed the porridge very much. Not only did he finish almost half the bowl, he even slurped down to the very last drop.

We cycled all the way from The Playground to the jetty area where lots of people were fishing. Baby G was very excited to see so many small fishes

As usual, on the way back to The Playground to return our bikes, Baby G fell asleep. He only woke up when we reached Parkway. He was so excited to see the Disney workshops that they had, actually, he was only excited to see the toy car that they had & wanted a ride.

We had to coax him to have lunch first. We finally settled on a place called The CaffeBar. Food was not too bad. The Ciabatta bread was wonderful, soft on the inside & lightly toasted on the outside. Baby G & Daddy enjoyed their bread very much, although Baby G did not like the Spinach soup very much (must be the green colour that put him off).

After lunch, we finally went to the Disney workshop as promised. Baby G did not really enjoyed much, he was so afraid to join in and not sure what was going on. The only thing he did well was driving the car from one end to the other. There was even a short story telling at the end, but he just stood there and listened and did not really join in. He kept clinging on to me, sigh... when will he be more independent?

Mini Accident

On Monday night, Baby G scared the living daylights out of me.

While I was at the kitchen sink washing up the bowls & getting ready for dinner, Baby G opened the cupboard to take out some plastic containers and in doing so, knocked a glass jar, causing it to smash all over the floor. Baby G was right smacked in the middle of all the glass shards. I was stunned for a moment & for a split second, I didn't know what to do. Luckily he did not move, I think he was still trying to figure out what actually happened. I quickly carried him away from the pieces and kept asking him if he felt any pain. I tried to keep my voice as calm as possible so as not to scare him. I nearly fainted when he said "Mummy, my leg pain"... I looked at his feet and there was blood.... the problem was I couldn't tell where the cut was and I wasn't sure if it was safe to simply wipe it off (just in case there were small glass pieces on him).

I put him on the sofa & told him not to move and took a piece of tissue and simply let the tissue absorb the blood instead of wiping it. But the process was too slow, so in the end, I carried him to the bathroom and washed him with water (not sure it was the right thing... but I did what I thought was best).

After all the cleaning, I kept asking him where else it hurt but he said "Mummy, no pain already... just now leg pain... now no more". Then he asked me "Mummy, why? what happened?" I told him that broken glass is very dangerous & can hurt him... not sure if he really understood though.

Then for the next 1hr, I vacuumed the floor over and over again. Luckily Baby G cooperated by sitting near the kitchen doorway and kept asking me when he can come in to help me. Needless to say, dinner was super late. I wore slippers when moving around the kitchen to prepare Baby G's meal. After he started eating, I went back to the kitchen and continued vacuuming again. Super paranoid.. but better safe than sorry.

Finally I was satisfied that the floor is clear and even then, I still did not allow Baby G in. He was instructed to stay away from the kitchen until further notice.

1. All the blood I saw, it came from this tiny cut. 2. I hope I cleaned up everything

Thank God that it was nothing more than this tiny cut that Baby G sufferred. It could have been worse.

Happy Birthday Auntie YP!

We celebrated Auntie YP's birthday at Pasta de Waraku @ Illuma Bugis.

She ordered a squid ink pasta and we tried so hard to get a picture of her with her ink black teeth.

1. Finally... but she has cleaned her teeth already.. 2. What's that sticking out of her mouth?

After dinner, we hopped to a few coffee houses before finally settling on NYDC at Bugis shopping centre. It's really been a while since we went there. Our favourite Terra Cafe is no longer there. I still remember Daddy & me hanging out at this place during our Poly days.

At NYDC, the kids were all enjoying colouring their pictures except for Baby G who preferred being the crayon distributor.

==> A mega-watt smile from a very hungry man.
Happy Birthday Auntie YP, hope you had a great time.
Also would like to say a special thanks to Uncle Dan for the desserts treat. I love my 'Grandma Goes Nuts', Baby G says 'Yummy, hot chocolate' & Daddy says 'Warm & delicious brownie.

Our Stay @ St. Regis

After talking about it in the last post, it would be such a shame not to show why St Regis is rated 6-stars.

Firstly, I was awed by the service. Impeccable.. everyone was so nice and whenever they see someone looking lost or unsure, the friendly staff was on hand to offer their assistance.

Secondly, huge room! I love our room (in fact, every other day, Daddy or myself will reminisce the place). It was so spacious that we even managed to have a party there.

Thirdly, we were 'assigned' a 24-hour butler who tended to our needs. I was most impressed with this. Our butler was a Japanese lady named Hitomi. The butler's tasks were to see to the guests' needs. For us, mostly we needed our coffee & teas. The room doesn't provide those 3-in-1 instant coffee sachets but freshly made coffee/latte/cuppacino/mocha/all sorts of teas/hot chocolate... brought to us by Hitomi. Baby G especially loved his hot chocolate.

<-- Before & After -->

Enough said... I'm missing the place again... here are some pictures instead....

Baby G's 3rd Birthday - Celebrations @ St Regis (Part 2)

Here is part 2 of Baby G's 3rd birthday celebrations.... St Regis.

After the morning celebration, we raked our brains as to where to have dinner. Initially we wanted to go for those 1-for-1 buffets, then we decided to go to Fish&Co but in the end... we decided on one place where we didn't think we'd end up celebrating. You guessed it.. St Regis. To be more specific, our hotel room at St. Regis.

We had a free 1-night stay at St. Regis and after checking in, we were amazed at how huge the room was; huge enough to house everyone. So instead of going out for dinner, we decided to spend the time at the hotel (after all, it's a 6-star hotel). We bought sushi, KFC & some local dishes to suit everyone's tastes.

While everyone was still eating, Baby G started to open his presents from MaMa & Grandpa.

Baby G opening his many presents from his doting grandparents.

After his bath, it was cake-cutting time.... he was very excited & happy, especially after he saw his 'Barney' cake (courtesy of GuGu) with lots of balloons.
What a happy looking Baby G.....

But before cutting the cake, must take pictures first while we still held his interest.. haha...
Cosy family shots....
