Year of the Ox

Our reunion dinner is always held at 2 places. My mum's and MIL's place. My mum's place would be the 1st stop, so usually it'll be quite an early dinner so that we can rush back in time for the 2nd dinner.
Every year, dinner is the same food.... my mum will prepare her chicken curry and 'bakwan kepiting'.. by the way, with all the "Little Nyonya" hype going on.... let me just share that my parents are 100% peranakans, which makes me a little nyonya too... hahaha....

<-- Should have taken a proper picture of the food....
Dinner at my MIL's is generally steamboat (pretty traditional). Baby G enjoyed his favourite beancurd and pork balls.
HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR

On the 1st day of CNY, we would go to MaMa's place in the morning. This year was pretty rushed because both Baby G & me woke up late, so we didn't really get to spend as much time as we would like. So it was just a quick breakfast and pay our respects (i.e. get our ang pows) and off we went to a temple at Mohammed Sultan.

<-- Baby G getting his ang pow....
After the temple visit, we went over to Ah Ma's place. Baby G got hold of GuGu's camera and started clicking away..... here are all the pictures that Baby G took.... I would say not too bad for a two & half year old. Heh heh.

From L->R : ShuShu, GuGu, KaiFu

From L->R : "Ah Choo" (don't know why Baby G keep calling this name), PoPo, Daddy

From L->R : The one who bribed Baby G with Bak-kwa, YanZhen CheChe.

Ouch... Ouch.....

Within 10 days, Baby G sufferred 2 bitings from 2 different kids. The first one is from Student Z... Again! As for the 2nd bite, it's from another child, Student XY.

Appararently, it all started cause Baby G provoked them. For Student Z's case, Baby G wanted to sit on the same toy car as he did and pushed him off. Student Z retaliated and bit him on the back (near the shoulder blades). The bite was pretty bad.
For the 2nd incident, Baby G pushed Student XY off his chair and again, the boy bit him. Although the bite was not as serious as the earlier one... but still... it pains me to see him hurt... Sigh!

I know Baby G started all this, but I'm wondering where were the teachers when all this happened? The teachers could tell me in detail how the incidents happened, so how come they were not able to anticipate the children's reactions since it is not the 1st time with Student Z.

Because of these 2 recent incidents, Baby G has also started to bite me whenever he doesn't get his way or whenever I scold him when he's done something wrong. I told the teachers that when Baby G sees other kids biting him, he may also think that it's ok to bite when being provoked. It doesn't bode well for his emotional growth.
I am wondering if I should take Baby G out of the school? But to re-adapt to a new one can be quite stressful to him since he's relatively happy at this school. The only thing is the biting incidents and what it does to him both physically and emotionally. Arghhhh! What to do??

Cough.. Cough... Atishoo!

This weekend, we didn't plan much as I had to work on Sat... and also Baby G came down with the flu bug.

The worse was Friday night when he kept throwing up whatever he ate, yet, the poor boy kept asking for food as he was feeling hungry. We spent most of Friday night cleaning and changing our bedsheets.

Luckily on Sat itself, Baby G's condition was much better, at least he didn't throw up everything he ate. According to Daddy, he managed to eat some cereal and drink the very diluted milk. On Sunday, luckily I didn't need to go back to office, so went out for grocery shopping. Baby G was very happy to get out of the house even though he was still feeling under the weather.

Today, Baby G is back at school, he's coughing less frequently, but the phlegm seems to have thicken a bit.... quite worried that it may progress to bronchitis if it drags. Will probably take him to see the doctor tomorrow evening if I don't see any improvement in him.

Henderson Waves

On a sudden whim, Daddy suggested taking a walk along the Henderson Waves. Since we all were already awake (courtesy of Baby G), we got ready. We reached the car park around 9am and we started our walk along S'pore's highest pedestrian bridge.
Initially, Baby G didn't want to walk, but slowly, he realised how fun it was to just run up and down the bridge that he didn't want us to carry him after that.

New Year Celebration - 2009

We organized a post new year celebration with friends yesterday. Also in town is Daddy's long-time friend, Jammy from Indonesia who came down to visit.

We decided not to cook & to buy dim sum instead. We went out early in the morning to the various places to get the food.

Shunfu :-
- Hakka food (Soon Kueh, Glutinious Rice)
- Muffins
Tiong Bahru market :-
- Chwee Kueh
- Siew Mai
Bugis Junction :-
- JCo donuts

Auntie Doris made her special lamb dish on the request of Auntie Jennifer. Delicious! I had 2 large pieces.... *sinful*.... Monday must skip lunch to compensate.

Initially, when everyone arrived, Baby G was pretty shy and kept close to me, but once his engine had revved up, he started to show his toys to all the uncles & aunties. He had a special affinity with Uncle Ronnie; from the kitchen, while heating up the food, I could hear him calling "Uncle Ronnie" this and "Uncle Ronnie" that....

In the end, everyone was so full that we didn't have a chance to eat the muffins/donuts and the fruits that Auntie Jennifer bought. Luckily, AhMa & gang came over after dinner to help us clear some of the desserts as we would be eating muffins & donuts over the next few days.

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a good time.

Chocolate Mousse....

I learnt another new receipe again and couldn't wait to try it out on my new electric mixer that Daddy bought for me for my xmas gift. Thanks Daddy!
<-- My new mixer (no more manual work)
I decided to do chocolate mousse as it required very few ingredients and the most important part is that I can use my new mixer to beat the egg whites til they are fluffy.

L-R -> Eggs whites, Egg yolks & melted chocolates

The final output...

Comments from Daddy (my self appointed food taster).....

"a bit bitter... sweeter would be better" --> I think coz I used dark chocolates instead of milk chocolates.
Comments from myself ....
"a bit too rich, maybe portions should be smaller per person"

Happy Birthday GuGu...

This post is a bit late, but I was kinda busy and tired over the past week.

First time, we celebrated GuGu's birthday over 2 days in a row. On Sat, we went to Ang Mo Kio's King Crab for dinner on GuGu's request. When we reached there, it was a long queue... not only was there a queue to dine-in, there was also a long queue for takeaway.

<-- King Crab <-- Long queue

Luckily, we only waited for about 15-20mins, but later, they told us the food will only be served about an hour later. Another long wait.... but in the end, it was all worth it. The crabs were very fresh and the chilli gravy, delicious! No pics of the food cause was too hungry and happy when the food arrived that I forgot to snap them.
The next day, on the actual day itself, we went for dim sum at Red Star Restaurant. They had a super huge 'da bao', the size is about 3 times the normal 'da bao'..... everyone enjoyed it. It was really an eye-opener.

Happy Birthday GuGu!
