Sing Along With Barney

Baby G is very into Barney for the past few weeks, or it is months? Time really flies. We've been watching the same DVD over and over again til most of us memorized the songs by hard. He even knows how to load the DVD into the DVD player and start it up. He even knows which remote control is for which appliance. He recently started to sort of sing along to some of the songs, but he's very particular about which songs. Not all of the songs he will want to sing. Fussy little boy.

Anyway, on one of those rare occasions that Baby G actually 'allowed' me to videotape his actions, I managed to catch him singing to the song 'If You Are Happy..'.

Enjoy the short home movie....

Pink Birthday Party

Today, Baby G was invited to a 1st birthday party of Mummy's friend's princess. But before we attended the party, Baby G received gifts from MaMa & GongGong in the early morning.
MaMa bought Baby G a Barney bag for his school. He was so excited about it. When GongGong also gave him a helicopter, he was still more interested in the bag and ignored GongGong.
As the party started at 6pm, Daddy decided to take a nap first seeing that it was still early so Baby G and myself amused ourselves with his toys and taking photos with his Froggie.

Here are some various shots of Baby G posing with and without Froggie....

Finally it was time to leave for the party, Baby G was so excited to go out. He kept hurrying Daddy to be quick, kept saying "Daddy, kai kai".
At auntie Ro's place, the first person we saw was Mummy's friend, auntie HPH. Baby G was very shy and didn't want to say "hi" or even look at them. It took him some time to start to warm up. When the cake came out, he was so enthralled by it. I think he hasn't seen a 3-tiered totally pink cake before.
Baby G also enjoyed all the toys that auntie Ro had. He didn't even want to leave the place, we had to bribe him with milk before he even showed any signs of wanting to leave. But before he left, he actually picked up all the balls and kept them in the big 'tub'. Auntie Ro, next time you need someone to clean up the place for u..... u know who to call. hahaha.

Last but not least, Happy Birthday little Reia

Cough Cough

Baby G is not feeling well today. He's coughing quite a lot. We took him to see the doctor in order to get some medication to make him feel better.

Baby G didn't really like being prodded by the doctor, but he took it like a man and still took his medication. Very good boy.

Hopefully the Dhasedyl will make him sleep more peacefully. Get well soon, Baby G!

Wet & Sizzling

It was a day full of activities...... it all started in the early morning....

Our first stop was to Tiong Bahru to have the porridge at Ah Chang's Porridge. I ordered Century Egg with Lean Pork and Daddy ordered Mixed Pork porridge. Baby G shared what we both ate. He enjoyed the porridge so much that he finished whatever we put in the bowl. He even ate a slice of butter/kaya bread.

After that we went to AhMa's shop to see her and GrandAuntie C bought a car for him. It then started to rain and Baby G kept saying "rain... rain".... and used his hand to cover his head. AhMa then gave him a piece of cardboard as your make-shift umbrella, he looked so funny holding on to the cardboard over his head. What a fussy little boy.

For dinner, we decided to try a place called 'Sizzling Rock' along Boat Quay. Basically, this place serves food semi-cooked on a super-hot granite stone and the heat from the stone sort of cooks the food. Daddy ordered Lamb Chop and I ordered the Salmon, thinking I could share with Baby G. However, the food was basically half cooked, hence I decided it was better if Baby G ate cooked food, so in the end, he only took french fries and some garlic bread. He still enjoyed it. Daddy felt that the food was just so-so, the lamb he ate had too much 'fats' and was a bit on the tough side. I quite enjoyed my salmon.

After dinner, we walked over to Funan and I bought my optical mouse for my laptop. It was a cute 'Mickey' mouse. No pun intended. Baby G was more than happy to help me carry my stuff.

We had desserts at TCC @ Funan. We ordered a raspberry swirl and coffee. It was nice and not too creamy. Definitely recommended.

What a day! Thanks, daddy for the wonderful time.

Vroom Vroom

After work, Daddy & myself brought Baby G to AMK Hub to sell off Daddy's old mobile phone. Upon the completion of the sale, Daddy suggested going to Fairprice for some grocery shopping.

Usually we will get a trolley and put Baby G in the front seat, however, today, by a pure stroke of good luck, we managed to get the one with a car in the front. Baby G was so excited when he saw me push the car-trolley towards him, he couldn't wait to get into the "car". He kept saying "drive car... drive car" and made the vroom vroom sound. When we stopped for the while to get our stuff, he was impatient and kept reminding us to get a move on by saying "mummy... vroom vroom".

When we finally left Fairprice, Baby G was so unwilling to leave his "car" behind, especially when someone else took it. He was so sad and cried.. we had to tell him to share the "car" with others, but he didn't really understand and kept crying "want drive car.. want drive car... vroom.. vroom". Even when we put him in his car seat, he kept trying to get out and wanted to go into Daddy's front seat and said he wanted to drive. I guess he was tired hence the crankiness came in. We had to distract him along the car ride back by playing his kiddy music and luckily, it worked and he started to sing along to the songs. Phew! Mission accomplished and we had a more peaceful ride home.

Botanic Gardens (Jacob Ballas)

Today, we went down to the Botanic Gardens to visit the Children's Garden by Jacob Ballas, recommended by Auntie PT.
We had breakfast at Mr Prata opposite NIE. Baby G enjoyed the prata kosong but not the Banana prata, guess it was too mushy for him.

We started our walk from 950am. The weather was sunny & windy, just nice for a slow, leisurely stroll along the gardens. We made our way down to the Children's Garden which was near the Eco-Garden.
Our 1st stop was the food making process, followed by the walk along the plants with a variety of smells. Do some of the plants look familiar?
In order :- Curry Leaves, Daun Limau Pulut, Laksa leaves, Mango plant, Kunyit leaves.
We saw a tree house and Baby G enjoyed all the climbing. He then walked across a log with daddy's help. He liked looking at the mini-waterfalls and walked across a "hanging" bridge. Baby G played on a see-saw and walked through a maze.

The final stop was a 'water stop". Baby G was initially apprehensive about going in, but soon he forgot about being scared and started playing with the water. But he was still kinda scared of the much larger fountains.

When we told him it was time to go, he was so disappointed. We stopped by the Kidz Cafe for a rest & some drinks and it was time to go home. Baby G was so tired from all the running & playing, he was truly exhausted and slept all the way home.

Goodbye Botanical Gardens, we'll definitely come again.....

Happy 43rd National Day

Today is the nation's 43rd birthday. We went to AhMa's house to celebrate. Baby G was so happy when we said "Let's go kai kai", he immediately went to get his shoes and wanted to put them on by himself. He was so excited, he forgot to put on his socks before his shoes... haha....

At AhMa's house, we managed to catch a glimpse of the helicopters carrying the national flag, Baby G was so excited. Whenever we heard the sounds of the planes, we'd tell him 'lai le, lai le' and his face lighted up and said to us "lai le, lai le". We all were tickled by his reaction.

To get into the spirit, we had Baby G "tattooed", along with his daddy as he didn't want to be the only one with the tattoos. Here's daddy & Baby G posing with their tattoos.

Speak Mandarin Campaign

Tonight Daddy came home super early so that we could go out for some grocery shopping. We went down to Buangkok NTUC (24hrs). After we got our stuff, Daddy suggested taking a short walk to see what other shops there are along that stretch. There was a hair studio that does kids hair cut and I happened to ask Daddy in Mandarin "Yao dai Baby G lai jian tou fa mah?". To my amazement, Baby G actually pointed to his hair. I was so surprised that he understood. But I was a bit skeptical, so I tried to ask him another question "Shui jian ni de tou fa?" and he replied "Mummy!"... I was stunned. Does he really understand or it was all a coincidence?? I decided to do another test.

While in the car, on the way home, I asked him to point to me a few items when I say the words.

First phrase I said "Yan jing zai na li?"... he pointed to his eyes.
2nd phrase "zui ba", he pointed to his mouth.
3rd phrase "jiao", he pointed to his feet.
4th phrase "bi zi", and he pointed to his nose.

Wow! Confirmed he understands liao! Me so happy & proud. Daddy also kept smiling rather smugly... hahaha.....

I think need to start sourcing for some Chinese books so that I can read to him at night. Start with something simple first... anything more advanced, need to ask Daddy to step in liao.

Til then,

Splish Splash

Today we woke up early to go swimming. I was particularly excited coz I wanted so much to see Baby G in his 'RipCurl' outfit. GongGong thought he was going biking.. hahaha.... but no fear, the rest of us knew it was a swimming outfit.

I must say, he seemed to be quite excited. He even took his 'car float' and dragged it off to the waters. He was so happy to get a chance to play with water without worrying about Mummy scolding him. His first step into the water was super cold, could see him shivering, but after a while, we made him wade in the pool and soon he was warmed up. He was very happy, kept giggling whenever Daddy splashed water at him. After the swim, we had fries & fishballs for snacks. The moment he reached home, he was totally wiped out that he just went to bed, I didn't even get a chance to properly wash him up.
In the evening, we went to AhMa's place for dinner. ShuShu gave him the SCDF helmet and he kept playing with it and sitting on his Donald Duck bike. Later on, he played with stickers from the Singapore Flyer kids pack. He & ShuShu stuck the stickers on his leg, looks quite funny.

NDP Preview 2008

We had a wonderful surprise today. YeePo managed to obtain 3 extra tickets for the NDP Preview.

Since it's a National Day celebration, we decided to let you wear the NDP outfit that AhMa bought for you. Cute.

We parked at Suntec and walked to Marina. We reached there at about 530pm, the pre-parade activites were already ending and the actual parade were about to start. We 'warmed up' by doing the "human wave".

The parade started with the usual song and dance routines from the different schools & associations, etc. We had parachuters, speedboats, military band, the traditional march pass from the uniform groups, the large Singapore flag, the Black Knights (I think one of the pilots is Zoe Tay's hubby... anyone can confirm?).

The night parade was full of vibrant colours, too bad most of the photos were blurred as the photographer complained that his arms were tired. (Time to get a tripod, darling.... or else, change photographer).

Baby G seemed like he really enjoyed himself. Not only did he loved the aerial display of the Black Knights, he also liked the fireworks display, but could sense he was a bit scared cause he held on to me very tightly. He even played with one of the boys there, luckily he managed to behave himself for the entire 3hr show. He did not cry nor tried to be difficult, all in all, a very well-behaved little boy. I'm so proud of him.

When we left the place, Baby G was so tired, he slept on my shoulder while we squeezed through the crowd back to Suntec to get the car. Hafway, daddy helped me to carry him cause my arms felt so heavy.

Finally we reached home and we opened the Fun Pack and wow, there were so many things given.

It was a wonderful & enjoyable day.
