Outing @ VivoCity

As Daddy had to work on Sunday, we decided to spend Saturday together. Firstly, we went down to Punggol Plaza to pass some stuff to Auntie Ro and have our breakfast there. It's been a while since we ate there, especially now that Baby G is no longer taking classes from Shekinah. As usual, Baby G had his prata breakfast, while I had my vegetarian noodles & Daddy had dim sum. Baby G actually ate both pratas, only giving me and Daddy one bite each to 'try out'.

After breakfast, we also decided to let Baby G have his hair cut @ the barber's in PP. He only allows that particular auntie to cut his hair and even then, he doesn't like to use the shaver. Only scissors are allowed to touch his hair. By the time we finished, it was almost near noon.

We then went down to Chinatown to stock up on some toiletries @ Swanston. It's been a while since we dropped by and we were quite surprised by how big it has expanded. It's almost comparable to a supermarket. They even started to sell household items like the MagicClean wipes, floor detergent, etc. We spent more than $100 there. Phew. Now we need to find place to keep all the stuff we bought.

Lunch was our favourite Ngoh Hiang store, but I think we won't be going there anytime soon. The prices they charged were really quite high. Just us, we spent $15 which is unsually high as our average was less than $10.

After our lunch, we went down to VivoCity as we wanted to let Baby G play at the water park. We did some shopping as Daddy wanted to buy a pair of slippers. Although, end up, we didn't manage to find any that he liked.

When we reached the place, almost 3/4 of it was under renovations. Baby G was super disappointed. Luckily, there was still a small area that allowed kids to wade & play with water. In the end, he had to settle for that. But I think he still enjoyed himself, although he was so particular about not getting his pants wet even though I already told him I brought extra 衣服 for him. (This time, we were well prepared with extra set of clothes & towel)

After changing, we went down to Carl's Junior for some snacks & rest.

Round 2 for Baby G was at the playground. Again, he played and didn't want to go home, even though, earlier on when we were shopping, he complained he was tired & sleepy.

After the playground, we stopped by Giant for some groceries. This time, Baby G was really tired and actually fell asleep in the trolley. First time, we managed to shop super efficiently as he wasn't awake to disturb us & insist on 'scanning' every item we bought into the trolley.

As he was still sleeping, we decided to 'ta-bao' our dinner. We chose the Punggol Nasi Lemak near Kovan. It was a long queue & I queued for almost 30mins. By the time, we reached home, it was almost 8pm. Me & Baby G shared a packet. He liked the fried chicken wings & would've finished it, but I suspect he was really too tired to eat much.

We watched some cartoons before calling it a day.

Happy Birthday YeeYee

On Monday, we celebrated YeeYee's birthday at 2 Chefs along Commonwealth. She had her heart on steamed fish cooked in the soya sauce.

Baby G especially loved the Butter Pork Ribs. Yummy.

After dinner, we went back to PR for our traditional cutting of the cake & singing of the birthday song. Only then we realised no one bought the cake. Haha. So we detoured to Elias Mall to get her a cake from Prima Deli. Baby G was in charged of putting the candles into the cake.

Happy Birthday Grandpa

It is grandpa's birthday today. Since he just had his major surgery done, we decided to keep it simple and celebrate it at home. Plan was to have steamboat for dinner since it's more healthy. Baby G and myself went over slightly around noon as Baby G was busy making Grandpa's card and was watching cartoons the whole morning.

We went to White Sands Fairprice to get the groceries and had lunch at the Xin Wang Cafe. Grandpa decided on Chicken Chop (his only indulgence for the day), Mama had Pork Chop, YeeYee had her instant noodles & Baby G had his cheese baked rice. I shared with Baby G and had my Iced Ying Yang.

Our steamboat dinner was a simple affair. No fancy foods like prawns or crabs (after all, Grandpa is still recovering). We had minced pork, beancurd, straw mushrooms, etc.

After dinner, cake-cutting time.... and photo-taking time.

I wasn't too sure how it came to be... but I happened to walk out to the kitchen and saw Grandpa & Baby G putting up the card onto the fridge. Then I heard Baby G say "Grandpa, when you are sad, you come to the kitchen and read my card". I think Grandpa was very touched to hear him say that.

Baby G's N2 Concert

Baby G had his year-end concert on 20th Nov, Sat. The days leading to the concert, I found out from Baby G that they would be performing 'Top Of The World'. Soon Baby G started commenting about his 'coconuts' keep falling off. I was trying to figure out what is the connection between coconuts & the song, 'Top of the World'.

As the days go by, he started to tell me something about a Philippine folk dance. Then he started to sound like he was rehearsing for some speech. Then it dawned on me that he could be the announcer to start the N2 song & dance routine. But then, I still had doubts and told my family that most likely he's the reserve for Eugene who did it last year with Alexis.

Only on the day itself, I realised that he really IS the announcer, together with Faustine. I started to get nervous and wondered if he'll just freeze on stage upon seeing so many people.




These are the photos that were taken during an earlier full dress rehearsal and this is the photo that finally clued me in that he was the announcer.

His item was the 8th on the list so it was a long wait for me and the tension is building. Just before his item started, I actually spotted him peeking out of the curtains to take a look at the audience. He looked really cheeky and it kinda made me feel less nervous (He asked me later if I saw him peeking out & I said 'yes'.)

Faustine did a slightly better job than Baby G. Her voice was clear and she started well. I suspect Baby G forgot his first line which was supposed to be spoken together. But luckily, he remembered the remainder of the script. Overall, not too bad and thank goodness he did not freeze up. But during the dance, he actually 'lost' his partner and was the only boy wandering around the stage looking for his partner to sit down together. That was hilarious. I asked him after the show and he told me he couldn't find Sherri as it was so messy. Haha.

The finale was 'Top Of The World' which Baby G remembered most of the moves although the starting was a little slow.

Finally the concert was officially over. The children were given a bento-looking set which had 1 muffin, small-cut sandwiches & nuggets and a green tea packet drink. Then the parents went on stage to pick the kids up. This year, there were no refreshments as compared to last year. I guess cause the refreshments last year so pretty measly & lots of parents had to rush to get the food.

We also managed to get Baby G's English teacher to take some photos.

We brought him outside of the concert hall so that he could eat his food as he said he was very hungry. He gobbled up all the nuggets.

What a day... it is finally over. Good job, Baby G.

Wedding Anniversary Celebrations

Haven't been updating my blog for quite a while as I have been occupied with my Dad's health. Now that he's at home, recovering slowly, I can breathe a little easier and continue to update my blog.

There have been quite a number of events in Nov and I have decided to write on my wedding anniversary celebrations to start it all off.

We celebrated our anniversary on 18th Nov 2010, technically, we ROM-ed on 21st Nov and our traditional was on 18th Nov (a year later).... so to keep things simple, we decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (10 years of ROM) on the traditional date (which is actually only 9 years). Hopefully, next year, I can get another bling bling surprise for our 10th traditional anniversary.... kekeke.

In the morning, we sent Baby G to school and then off to Macs for breakfast. We chose Mac so that we can enjoy our meal, surf net free and basically, relax over a hot cuppa. Alex also took the opportunity to try out his new Canon EOS550 toy around Anchorvale CC's compound.

After our super long breakfast, we did some shopping and off for lunch at Dome @ Dempsey Hill and then more shopping.

We proceeded to pick Baby G earlier than usual as we had to reach our dinner place before 630pm. We quickly got ready & drove to Mount Faber for our very special dinner especially arranged by my dearest hubby.

As we queued up to board the cable car, they provided us with welcome drinks of Champange & Mocktail for Baby G although he didn't liked it, saying it was too sweet. So end up, we shared Baby G's mocktail. Soon it was time to board, the servers worked very quickly after we actually got into the cabins. They placed our starters and Baby G's main course and off we went.

The 1st round was from Mount Faber all the way to Sentosa and back. Inside the cabin, it was really breezy. We slowly ate our meal and enjoyed the spectacular view. Baby G was very excited and kept looking all around him. Upon reaching Mount Faber again, the servers removed our empty plates and served us our main course with a glass of orange juice. The Sea Bream that I had was really salty but Alex's chicken tasted slightly better. I had to remove the skin totally and only ate the fish meat which was not as salty as the skin but still I had to wash it down with lots of water & juice. The steamed potatoes were, however, really smooth and tasty.

After our main course, the desserts were a disappointment. It was simply fruit jelly served in a glass jar. Presentation scored points but not the taste. However, Baby G's Chocolate concoction was simply divine. Luckily he didn't like the banana and didn't want to eat it so I relished it all by myself.

Grandpa's Op

Grandpa was scheduled for a major op on Friday morning, so on Thursday evening, we went down to pay him a visit.

We reached SGH around dinner time, after picking Baby G from school. We had dinner @ Kopitiam with Grandpa. As he already had his Western dinner provided by the hospital, he only joined us for desserts. Baby G opted for soy chicken rice and ate almost the entire plate, leaving only 3 mouthfuls of rice for me.

After dinner, we proceeded to Grandpa's room. It was relatively cosy. Best part was having the room to ourselves. At least, it offered us a lot of privacy and we didn't have to worry about disturbing other patients. Baby G was very impressed with the room. He took off his sandals and walked around barefoot. I think he felt that it was a mini-home. He climbed onto Grandpa's bed and made himself very comfortable.
