Birthday Celebrations @ Zion

Baby G wanted a mini party at his school & even requested for the Pixar Cars birthday cake. The irony is that he has never watched the cartoon and neither have we bought the toys for him, he only asked for it is because last year, one of his classmates had this cake and he has remembered it til now. tsk tsk tsk.

As I only could take the afternoon off, I requested that the party be held during the afternoon snack time. The teachers told me it'll be a bit rushed because they were planning to give extra lessons as Friday was a holiday. Anyway, they agreed and requested that we go earlier.
Baby G was pretty excited on that day, he woke up without much fuss and did everything super efficiently. If only everyday was party day, mornings would be such a breeze.
We arrived at school at 320pm bringing the cake & party favours. His friends were also excited to see us. One of his friend, Eugene kept calling me "Gabriel Mummy, Gabriel Mummy, got presents?". I felt a bit like Santa Claus. The only one who didn't really seem excited was Baby G himself and that's because he just woke up from his nap and still feeling a bit groggy. hahaha.
The teachers arranged the children into their groupings (A & B) and the singing started.

I was quite impressed with Mdm Mou as she immediately offered to cut the cake & even knew how much cake to cut. Everyone had a slice, including me & Daddy. She even knew which child couldn't eat much & cut a smaller piece for her.
After the cakes, the children were supposed to drink up their water before they were allowed to get their party favours from Baby G. Everyone was very determined to finish up their water and even showed it to me as proof. So I asked Baby G to distribute the "party bag".

I always try not to have sweets or tidbits in my party bag as I never did like the idea of just giving things to eat. So this year, Daddy came up with a cool idea. Since we were going to Chiang Mai, we decided to get pencils & notebooks from there. Not sure if the children will like it, but it's something different and hopefully, the little ones will find it unique. To make it a little more personal, I added a note there saying "To My Friend, Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me, Gabriel". Hopefully, the parents can appreciate this... hee hee.

Couldn't resist adding this photo of Eugene cause he's always been so friendly with me.

An 'Arty' Day

We arranged to meet up with ES & YP to go to the National Museum on Saturday. We met for lunch @ Kopitiam (Bras Basah outlet) before going to the SAM @ 8Q (A new extension of the Singapore Art Museum).

==> Walking towards SAM

The only 'free' exhibit was on the 1st floor. So we only spent about 20mins at that place before proceeding to the National Museum.

1st stop :-
Every year that we visit the museum, this wall will feature different themes. The 1st year we went to the Museum, the theme seemed to be 'Plastics in Orange/Yellow Hues'. The 2nd year, I don't know coz it was Daddy who brought Baby G (as I was working that weekend). And now, the theme is "Public Power : Public Secret by Twardzik Ching Chor Leng ".

==> Our first stop.

==> This was when he just turned 2

Our 2nd stop was at "The Imaginary Story Land by Tan Bee Aye". The items were all handmade by the artist & made up of mostly fabrics. She even had some costumes which the 2 kids tried it out. Don't you think they look cute? Hee Hee.

==> Our 2nd stop

Our 3rd stop was at "Cartoon Mural by Cartoonist Miel". The kids were given papers and pen down their creative ideas & paste them up on the wall. Here's Baby G writing his ABCs. Good effort on the 'A', 'B' & 'C', but forgot how to write his 'G'.

==> Our 3rd stop

Our 4th stop is "Stories Alive By The Party Room", the theme is "Exploring Africa" where kids were given tribal masks to colour. Here's Baby G hard at work on his mask.

==> Our 4th stop

Finally, we completed all the 'free' activities for the day. Here we are taking a short but important break.

Last but not least, coffee break time. We walked over to Dome for some afternoon snacks & drinks.

HairCut

We've been prepping him for this haircut for the past 2 weeks. We just kept reminding him that he needed to go to the barber's to cut his hair. Everytime we said this, he told "okay".

After lessons today, we brought him to the barber, which happens to be on the same floor. There was quite a crowd today but we only needed to wait for about 10mins before it was his turn. But the lady who happened to be free wasn't the one who cut his hair previously, so he didn't want and said he only wanted that 'che che' to cut his hair. So, we had to wait a bit more as she was still busy with another customer.

Finally, it was his turn. I reminded the lady not to use the shaver. Firstly, I gave him a packet of Wang Wang man-tou biscuits and told him he could only open it after the haircut. He held on to it and did not make a fuss when she put the overalls for him.

Throughout the entire haircut, the lady kept talking to him, praising him to keep him distracted. Although I believe it did work to a certain extent, I could tell he was feeling kinda scared. He din dare to move his head and had a very worried look. In less than 15mins, the haircut was over. A huge sigh of relief from him & ME.

PS : I told the lady to cut shorter than usual so that there's a longer time lag before the next haircut.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Uncle Ben

Usually Sat mornings are reserved for Baby G's morning lessons @ Punggol Plaza but today, being a public holiday, there were no classes hence we decided to go down IKEA for breakfast. Guess everyone had the same idea as us; the place was super-packed. We had to wait almost 20mins for a place and another 15-20mins for Daddy to order our food. After breakfast, we trooped down to Giant for our groceries. Another huge crowd greeted us, we had to navigate around the place to get our stuff. I decided that there were simply too many people and quickly finished off our groceries.
In the evening, we went to LingZhi Vegetarian restaurant to celebrate Uncle Ben's birthday, albeit belated. Here are some of the shots from the celebration.

Baby G was pretty friendly with Kate. We played 'scissors, paper, stone', he even helped to wipe Kate's nose as she was feeling under the weather.

Overheard during dinner :- We were telling Baby G not to climb up and down the chairs as Kate was following him up and down. He actually said "maybe because she likes me". HAHAHA.
