Baby G's 3rd Birthday - Celebrations @ School (Part 1)

We celebrated Baby G's 3rd birthday at his school. We already told the teachers so they were well prepared for our arrival.

First thing we saw was that the children were all seated around the tables while Baby G was seated in the centre of the class, waiting expectantly for us. He was very excited to see us in school. We quickly whipped out the Barney cake & arranged the candles. You really have to be fast when you have 25 kids gearing up to eat the cake. The teachers had to keep the kids from coming over to touch the cake.

We managed to take some shots just before the cake disappeared.

We wanted to give the kids something special besides the party favours that I prepared. Daddy decided to take a class photo and give the photo to each of the children. But because the children were all so excited, it was difficult to line them up for a shot, so we had to split them into 2 groups. After much help from the teachers, Daddy managed to get some shots for the kids to take home.

These are the 2 shots that we selected to give the kids.

Baby G served the cake to all his teachers before finally getting one piece for himself. What a polite & considerate boy. Heh Heh.

Party Favours

Baby G's 3rd birthday is just around the corner. We plan to celebrate his birthday together with his friends at the childcare centre (.. he's not going to miss school because of his birthday; unlike Mummy, he doesn't get a birthday off.. heh heh).

Over the weekend, we went down to Bugis to get all the party favours for his friends... all 28 of them. We spent less than $40 for the gifts; a good bargain, I say. Each of his friends get a packet of 6 crayons, a packet of tidbits & 2 chocolate sticks. Our party favours must be both educational (crayons) & fun (tidbits & chocs).

We also ordered a 'Barney' cake for him (courtesy of Gu Gu as she's not in SGP to celebrate). Hope all his friends enjoy the celebration.. but most importantly, hope Baby G enjoys his big day!

Lunar Birthday

Today is 五月 初三. It's Baby G's lunar birthday. Actually I forgotten all about it til Daddy reminded me in the morning. We went into his room to sing him a birthday song. He listened til we finished & promptly went back to sleep again.

A very tired Baby G

In the evening, Ah Ma came over to celebrate his birthday for him. As always, she would prepare mee-sua & red eggs for the birthday boy.

==> Baby G enjoying his mee-sua dinner.

After his bath, I let him wear his new 'Thomas the Train' PJs. He was so happy that he let me take a photo of him; he even gamely posed for me.

==> What a pose!

But... the best part of the entire day was his brand new bicycle from YeePo. He was so excited when he saw his gift. He just couldn't wait to start riding it, kept disturbing Shu Shu who was helping to adjust the bike to his height.

Initially, he wasn't too sure how the pedal worked and had to use a lot of effort to start the bike moving, but after a while, he got the hang of it. We shifted the furniture a little to provide some space for him to ride the bike. He started slowly & cautiously but after a while, he threw caution to the wind and started to cycle faster & faster. I was the makeshift traffic light so that he would have stop & start again. At least, it slowed him down a little.

English Scones

It's been a while since I last baked anything.. so today I decided to bake scones. The receipe that I had makes 20 scones, so I halved the ingredients since it's my first attempt. In the end, I think cause my make-shift cutter was too small, I ended up with at least 30 over small-sized scones.

I had more than enough to share with my family & my in-laws. Hope they like it.

Simple Ingredients of : Flour/baking powder/eggs/milk/sugar/butter

After kneading the dough & using the shot glass as a makeshift cutter to get the shapes

Fidgets

Today Baby G's childcare centre closed for their Annual Teachers' Retreat, so we both took leave to spend some quality time together. We decided to go down to Fidgets after seeing Hot Mama's blog & how much the little princess enjoyed herself.

We reached Turf City at about 11am. From the pictures, it seemed like quite a huge place, but being there made me realise it was actually quite small. We started with the less adventurous : "The Ball Area". We left him on his own and sat outside of the play area where he could still see us. After a while, we persuaded him to try out the other areas that Fidgets had to offer. Both Daddy & me took turns to follow him up and down the different obstacles. We definitely had a good workout!

Of course, Baby G's most favourite place was the play area where they had the Little Tikes toy cars. He spent the most time there. Even when it was past lunch time & we were feeling hungry, he simply refused to leave.
Mummy : It's lunch time, let's go.
Baby G : NO..NO... I want to drive car.
Mummy : Let's go, mummy & daddy are hungry.
Baby G : You go there & eat (pointed to the restaurant @ Fidgets).
Mummy : No... the food is expensive. Let's go find some food downstairs.
Baby G (looking disappointed) : ok, we go down, eat 1st & then come back here, ok?
Mummy : Let's see.... but we go eat first, ok?

Finally, Baby G went left the place with us. We went down to SOL Playground Cafe where we had a voucher for a kids meal. The place is also pretty child-friendly. They had a little play area for kids while the parents eat.

<-- Play area -->
After our lunch, we went to IMM (Baby G had a short nap in the car). We visited Daiso where I bought a Magic Gel Number 'sticker' for Baby G. Initially wanted to stick them on the windows, but Daddy cautioned that it might entice him to climb up the windows, so we'll probably put them somewhere in the bathroom so that Baby G can enjoy them whilst having his bath.

==> Looks kinda like sweets though.....

As we were near GuGu's work place, we asked GuGu to join us. We had dinner @ Cafe Cartel. Baby G enjoyed the bread & spread the butter on all his own. The coffee was not too bad, but the cake was a bit hard.
All in all, it was a most exhausting yet happy & eventful day. My 2 boys are now fast asleep... and I am now going to bed too.... good nite.

Happy Birthday MaMa!!

Today is MaMa's special day. Actually, she loves the month of May cause there are 3 major celebrations for her... namely birthday, Mother's Day & her wedding anniversary. The month of May has always been an expensive month for all of us but it's also the month where we get to pig out & spend more time together.

Since we already pre-celebrated her birthday over the weekend, we decided to have a simple zi-char dinner outside. We went down to a place called 'Seafood Hut' at Elias Mall. One of the star attractions is the soft shell crab with fried garlic. We love that dish... the rest are just normal. But we also order chilli crab but I feel it was pretty so-so, the chilli didn't taste like the usual, it had a kind of chilli powder taste to it, the crab was huge though.

==> Our yummy spread!

Not only did we enjoy the meal, we also enjoyed the company, especially with the antics of YeeYee's 2 friends, Eddie & Sally.

<- The 2 of them clowning around -->

After dinner, we went back home for the traditional cake-cutting. We even managed to get Baby G to sing 1 line of 'Happy Birthday' before turning shy again and hiding his face from view.

From the pictures, you can't tell if it was Baby G celebrating the birthday or Mama... hahaha

Side track :- While we were preparing the cake, Baby G took some pictures on his own. Although there were a number of 'spoilt' shots, I managed to fish out some acceptable ones of GrandPa here.

What a great time!
Thanks to Sally & Eddie for the lovely cake and pressies for my mum & for spending the time with us!

Summary of Long Weekend....

It was the long weekend due to May Day hols. We managed to catch up on lots of things that we didn't manage to do the past few weekends due to Daddy having to work. So here's a summary instead......

Friday :-
Spent the day lazing around the house, especially for me. Had a super long afternoon nap.. to catch up on all my lack of sleep on weekdays. But we managed to get out of the house in the evening to Bishan Junction 8 for some window shopping. We also stopped by YaKun for some drinks/desserts.

=> Baby G enjoying his muffins & toast while we enjoyed our kopi...
Saturday :-
We decided to give Mama an advanced birthday treat. We sprang a surpise Dim Sum buffet at Excelsior Hotel (River City Restaurant). Her initial moody morning was immediately erased and her joy was indescribable. Of course, we know the one who really put her into a good mood was none other than her 'bao bei'. Hahaha..

==> Mama's happy look... heh heh.
Sunday :-
After eating out yesterday, we decided to eat at home today. Daddy prepared a hearty breakfast (forgot to take pics of it). Initially Baby G wanted to eat the muffins but when he saw my sunny-side up egg, he decided he preferred the egg & sausages instead.

==> Baby G enjoying his breakfast.

After the delicious meal..... it's time for our car wash..... this time Baby G helped a lot. He managed to wipe the car down pretty well, he did the tyres, the doors & the bumper. He even admonished me for not doing a good job when he spotted some parts that were still dripping wet. What a bossy boy!
