Our 1st Product Review

I was invited to conduct a product review for a toy meant for boys. This is my first product review and I was rather excited about it. When the package finally came (Thanks, FedEx).... Baby G was even more excited than I was. He couldn't resist waiting til the evening and I allowed him to open up the package just before going off for school. He ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the package and he couldn't wait til he came back from school to tear it open.

This is an innovative version of Hot Wheels on Walls instead of on floors. Some assembly by adults is required. But the intructions were easy to follow with appropriate pictures to make it even more fool-proof.

While I was busy assembling the 'hooks' on the walls, Baby G helped by fixing up the larger pieces with a bit of Daddy's assistance. Lucky I have an entire wall space to put the toy up, else I would have to move it to the living room. This toy is not suitable if you don't have at least 1.5m of wall-to-wall space.

After about 20mins, viola!.... the toy is finally up.

For the next 2hrs, Baby G was trying out the different variations of the wall tracks and see how fast the cars could go. We managed to find other Hot Wheel cars from his toybox to try out on the tracks. It is definitely much more fun with more cars. Warning: As the cars travel on the tracks, it gains some momentum & when it leaps off the tracks, stay away from the car. In the end, I had to move the mattress so that when the car leaps off the tracks, it doesn't hit hard on my floor.

By the way, when I got the invite for the product review, I thought it was a new toy that has yet to appear on the market. Imagine my surprise when I saw this being sold at some of the major department stores. It retails at $69.90. A little on the high side.... On a more positive note, Baby G gets to keep the toy......

But... the problem is...... should I leave it on the wall or should I dismantle it?

Happy Children's Day

7th Oct (Fri) was Children's Day. It's the new rule where every 1st Friday in October will be Children's Day. This allows us a legitimate excuse to have a long weekend..... which both me & Alex took advantage of. Since it's also Children's Day, it's a day for Baby G.... meaning no school for him and "no worksheet" day for him. It's play... play.... and more play.....

First stop for the day was a BK breakfast @ Compasspoint. We have been wanting to try out the BK breakfast for the past 2 weeks but have been disappointed by the super long queues we see almost every Sat. This time, luck was on our side, no long queues.... Baby G was super happy.

By the time we finished, it was quite late to go to the Esplanade (our original plan) to watch the Act 3 play at the Concourse... so we decided to go shopping instead.

Went down to Orchard area. First stop was 313@Somerset cause that's where we parked. Alex bought 2 T-shirts for himself at UniGlo. Finally visited the much-talked about H&M.... hmmmm.... still can't appreciate what the rave was all about. Went straight to the Kids section to check out their selections. Found a Dinosaur T-shirt that Baby G liked and bought for him. I finally settled on a tank top and skirt. Total damage = $65... not too bad....

Baby G wanted to take a train ride, so we took the MRT down 1 stop to Orchard to stop by Lucky Plaza to check out the exchange rate for our Taiwan trip.

As it was quite late, we just stopped by the 1st food stall for our lunch. It was a simple meal of Char Siew Rice & Wan Tan Noodles.

After lunch, we took a walk back to our carpark. As we promised Baby G a movie, we decided to head on down to GV Grand for the "Johnny English - Reborn". As it was still early, we sat down for some afternoon snacks.... been wanting to try the "Garlic Tom Yum" toast on ToastBox's menu.... sad to say, it was only so-so... couldn't taste the Tom Yum at all..... tasted more like spicy garlic toast instead.

The movie was simply pure fun... full of slapstick action that Baby G could appreciate. He couldn't stop laughing & quite a few movie patrons turned around to look at him. I think there were some scenes that may not be as funny to us adults but when Baby G started laughing so hard, some of the patrons actually started laughing too.... it was pretty infectious. Just to see him enjoy himself so freely was worth every cent... although if it was me to decide, I would wait for the DVD.... hahaha.....

Dinner was at Skinny Pizza which recently opened an outlet at Great World City. The staff were quite nice & chit chatted with Baby G. Alex didn't really care for the Mushroom selection I made as he said it was too 'mushroomy'. But the English Breakfast was nice. By then, Baby G was too tired to appreciate the food, he just took 1.5 slices and said he wanted to sleep.

We quickly finished up our dinner... but as we walked past the TimeZone, Baby G "miraculously" became wide-awake. He said he wanted to go in to take a look. He asked me if I brought the card and wanted to play the Animal Kaiser machine. Sadly, all 4 machines were taken up by 3 kids & 1 adult. At first, I thought the adult was sitting there accompanying his 2 sons... but then I realised he was actually playing... I wouldn't say 'playing'.... more like sitting there and swiping his card. He didn't even press the buttons.... he basically swiped his card and let the machine run on its own and he collected the card after that... hmmm.. where's the fun in that? He did this several times & at the same time, his 2 sons were also playing the machine beside his.

In the end, Baby G walked around to other machines til it was quite late.... convinced Baby G to go home and rest since he had not napped the entire day. As expected, in the car, he slept like a log & couldn't even wake up. Had to carry him all the way home.

What a long but enjoyable day.

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY, BABY G....
