Baby G Has Grown Taller

We went to Ah-Ma's house for dinner on Sunday. As usual, Baby G will always take his blue bike to ride & play. Previously, he was too short to reach the pedals of the bike, but today, he finally managed to comfortably rest his feet on the pedals and 'learnt' how to cycle by pedaling, instead of using his legs (like how Fred Flintstones drives his car). He hasn't learnt the art of controlling where he wants to go, but it's okay, slow and steady.

Baby G is sick again

Phew, finally have a chance to update the blog. Don’t even know where time flies. Every time when I want to update the blog, just feel so tired and no inspiration at all, so keep procrastinating.

Some updates… Baby G is having the sniffles again. Doc said it’s mild bronchitis. Hopefully the medication will make him get well soon. Seems like it’s improving, but during the mornings, it seems to get a bit worse. Seems like every other month or so, my boy falls ill. Not sure if it’s because of exposure of other kids at the childcare or he has a weak constitution.

The past week, as Daddy had reservist and needed to be at camp early in the morning, so left only me and Baby G alone in the mornings. For all the mornings, Baby G has been totally uncooperative when it comes to getting ready to go school. Here are some of the things he’s done :-

(i) Don’t want to wear school uniform (although I can understand it looks pretty boring)

(ii) Refused to take medicine and made me spill one of the dose all over the floor (he was whacked for this and complained to his Grandpa & MaMa when he saw them).

(iii) Once reached school, refused to let the teachers carry him in, clung on tightly to the gates & refused to let go.

The only morning that he was an angel was when Daddy happened to be around on Friday morning. He did everything he was told and I even managed to get to work early. I think he's simply a cunning monster who only knows how to behave himself when the "important people" are around. Haha.

We finally took down his cot since he seems to have adapted well to sleeping on his own. Thank goodness it was a relatively smooth transition from the cot to the bed. I guess the "car bed" helped a lot. After taking down his cot, we had more space in our bedroom and moved the spare TV (courtesy of my parents) in. After this, Baby G always wants to watch his Barney show in our room cause it's so comfortable to lie and watch the TV. He's also learnt to operate the DVD player in my room so that he can switch it on himself without needing anyone's help. So somtimes, the only way to prevent him from watching, if he's naughty, is to take out the plug. But it has to be a sneaky way, i.e. cannot let him see how the plug works else nothing can stop him.

He also quite enjoys reading his 'train book' and I managed to catch him in one of his reading sessions.

Parents-Teacher Meeting

On Saturday morning, Baby G's school arranged for a Parents Teacher meeting. We met up with his Chinese teacher (Gen lao shi) and the Centre Manager, Mrs Wong.

This time round, the comments on Baby G were pretty positive and encouraging.

Some of the comments :-
"has shown tremendous improvement" ==> more willing to share toys

"displays more patience" ==> waits for others to finish playing with toys before he starts

"responds well to instructions." ==> understands & listens to teachers

"very clean 'eater', almost no mess." ==> doesn't drop rice all over, minimal spills when drinking soup.

"highly sophisticated motor skills at his age." ==> holds pencils and draws/doodles/scribbles.

"applies analytical and logical thinking." ==> likes stacking blocks and arranging toys in rows.

I also asked the teacher how come Baby G kept talking about a "new friend" with a name sounding like 'Ian'. Then the teacher explained that he's called 'Kyan' and he came in a few months after Baby G but only recently, he likes to stick to Baby G during play time. Apparently, he's sort of the older brother now, so some of the younger ones look up to him and play with him. Wah... so impressed that my boy is like a leader. Hopefully, he doesn't lead them astray... hahaha.....

Azabu Sabo

Today is the 1st day of my long leave. Feels so relaxed at home. Since I need not go to work, Daddy sent Baby G to childcare in the morning.

I prepared an egg sandwich for my breakfast and then did some housework. After that, played games on my laptop and then off to pick Baby G up from school. Met Daddy halfway and we all had lunch together.

I also made plans to meet up with my best friend since she was also on leave. I pre-prepared Baby G's lunch while he was sleeping. Somehow, Baby G seemed to know that we'd be going out cause he only slept for about 1.5hrs (his normal time is usually more than 2.5hrs). So I quickly turned on the electric steamer and gave Baby G a bath while the food was cooking. By the time we finished everything, the food was all ready. I highly recommend an electric steamer since I need not keep watch over it and I can do other things. Very time efficient.

We left the house and it rained cats and dogs so no choice, took a cab to go to Central @ Clark Quay.

When Baby G saw auntie PP, he hid behind me and acted shy around her. As it was time for Baby G's lunch, I requested to go to a place that at least had a baby chair so that I don't have to worry about him running around the place. We decided on Azabu Sabo. Their desserts looked really nice and we decided on the tea-time special (a kind of Hokkaido dessert) while Baby G had his steamed rice / meat / egg lunch. By the way, the coffeee was really nice.

==> This is what Auntie PP had (green tea ice cream + coffee)

==> This is what I had (chocolate ice cream + coffee)

These 2 were taken by Baby G himself. 1st one quite artistic, 2nd one not bad except for the finger.

New "Car Bed"

Baby G is getting to be a big boy already, we wanted him to start sleeping on his own. Previously, Baby G slept on the cot in the same room as us. We decided that it's time for him to be a bit more independent when it comes to sleeping.

We started off by getting him a new set of bedsheets, hoping that it would make the change less stressful. Daddy chose this design for him.

He definitely likes his new bed with the design of cars on them. He calls it his "car bed". On the first night, after drinking his milk, he immediately slept on the bed, without us having to coax him.

But on the 2nd night (which is tonight), he kept saying he wanted to sleep on "mummy's bed". So both of us stayed in his room and played & talked to him while he slept on his own bed. It worked and he promptly fell asleep.

We are not going to keep his cot at the moment until we are sure that he's comfortably adapted to his new sleeping quarters.

Happy 1st Birthday Kate

As today we had a birthday party to attend in the evening, we decided to spend the early part of the day at home.

As usual, the first person to wake up is Baby G, asking for his morning milk. Daddy will prepare Baby G's milk on weekend mornings, letting me have an extra hour of sleep on weekends. After the milk, Baby G and daddy will be playing in the living room, until Baby G thinks I have enough sleep and comes in to wake me up. Of course, I always feel that I don't have enough, but Baby G usually wins. HaHa.

Baby G is very much into trains right now. He even lined up his 'cars' such that they look like trains. Initially, he only took his 'cars' and push cart, but later on, he went to his room and take his 2 chairs and joined them up to play. After he lined them up, he expected us to push the other cars with him while he sits in the front car. It's a tiring and back-breaking game for us, we both had to take turns to push the cars around. He even asked us to stop and pump petrol for his 'train. I had to be the petrol attendant too. Even while one of us was supposed to be resting, we had to double up as a toll bridge for his train.... sigh. Moreover, I was supposed to be resting my sprained foot.

<== Initial train.. A much longer train ==>

In the evening, off we went to Costa Sands Pasir Ris chalet to celebrate Kate's 1st birthday. Baby G ate his beehoon and beancurd, his usual good behaviour when it's eating time. After that, he played balloons with the rest of the kids, and his usual 'cannot share' behaviour emerged. I had to pry the balloon out of his hands which made him start crying and daddy had to take him out to cool down.

Here are some of the photos of the party...... enjoy.....

Ouch!

The night before, while I was downstairs, waiting for Daddy's car and searching for GrandPa & Baby G, I stepped into some hole in the ground and twisted my ankle. OuCH!

The next morning, I went to see the doctor and he said it could be a torn ligament. Scary sia. anyway, he gave me 3 days of MC and asked me to rest as much as possible.

Anyway, I also decided to go to the sinseh to see if he can massage it such that it gets better faster. It was a painful experience and now my foot is all bandaged up.....

Now I'm just limping around....when I showed my bandaged foot to Baby G, he was curious about it. He kept touching gently especially when I told him "Mummy's leg pain pain, you sayang?". Baby G then slowly and gently rub my foot. HaHa... quite sweet of him.

Chalet @ Pasir Ris

Shu Shu managed to finally book the Pasir Ris chalet after trying so many times. We (or rather Daddy) packed all our stuff and off we went. Mummy was sleeping in late coz she was recovering from a bout of diarrhoea.

First stop was Ah Ma's house to pick Ah Gong & Shu Shu up and have our brunch. Then we helped to carry the rest of the stuff to the chalet. We then went to Giant @ Tampines to get the rest of the groceries, but we made a stop home for Baby G's float (in the shape of the car) which we all forgot to pack for him. We only remembered his favourite Froggie.

At the chalet, Baby G became pretty excited at his new surroundings. We decided to go for an early swim since the weather wasn't too warm. Baby G was so happy but as usual, once we reached the water, he became a little apprehensive and clung on to us. But soon, he started to get used to the water and played with the water guns that we brought.

And this is Baby G, all shacked out after the swim.

We had a BBQ that evening.... I'll let the pictures tell the story...

On Sunday, we took a morning stroll along the Pasir Ris park. Baby G enjoyed himself very much with the swings, slides, bridges, etc. He almost didn't want to go back. After a short rest, GuGu drove us to the Downtown East E!Hub. When Baby G saw the train there, he was very excited and kept telling us "Choo Choo Train". Each ticket costs $3... so in the end, only Daddy & Baby G took the ride, after 3 rounds, the ride ended.... pretty expensive ride for $3, it seemed less than 5 minutes.

Kinda ex but the joy on his face was worth it

We then walked around and stopped by the E Zone. Baby G tried playing with some of the games there.

==> Preparing for NS.

As I am writing this, I am feeling so tired especially since I just finished ironing and washing the clothes & downloading the pictures. Thanks Daddy for helping to hang the clothes to dry, else I wouldn't be able to finish this blog and let the others see it tomorrow.
